There are many ways to Take Christmas Back! Here are just a few ways you can participate in the Christmas Rebellion:
1. Join the Movement!
It’s easy to say you want to be a part of something, but it’s another to actually “put your pen to the paper.” So, if you are willing to step out and Take Back Christmas, CLICK HERE TO JOIN THE MOVEMENT! (create an account if you do not already have one)
2. Buy a Christmas Rebellion T-shirt
Not only can you sport a really cool t-shirt, but you can also have a great conversation starter in the community. Moreover, the proceeds from these shirts will go towards our WorldCare initiatives. Stop by the resource center at church this weekend to purchase your T-Shirt.
3. Buy Bibles to send to Iran
Despite persecution, the church in Iran is growing rapidly. They have a great demand for the scripture, and we want to help them by providing Bibles to help spread the word to the millions who have yet to know Christ. CLICK HERE TO PURCHASE A BIBLE!
4. KARE for Kids
Rather than spending all our money simply on ourselves, KARE fo Kids gives us the opportunity to help local kids that can’t afford Christmas presents. We will have a Christmas tree at the church from which you can choose a star with a gift idea on it. Simply take the star and replace it with the corresponding gift. KARE for Kids is a nonprofit organization that provides for underprivileged children in Dawson County.
5. Invite Cards
At the end of the day, it can be as simple as inviting someone to church. When you do, give them one of our simple Christmas Rebellion invite cards. It will lead them to this site where they can learn all about what it means to Take Christmas Back, and begin a journey towards knowing Christ.
6. Come to the Taste of WorldCare on December 15th at 6:30pm
Join us to at the North Forsyth Campus to learn more about how you can reach out and care for the world. You will even get to taste the local foods from all our WorldCare partners – Spain, Iran, Malawi, Egypt, Jamaica, Australia, Columbus (GA), and Cincinnatti (OH). CLICK HERE TO ATTEND!
7. Help Stock the Food Pantry at Mountain Lake
Christmas memories often include a huge meal with the family, but for some it’s not always a reality. This Christmas consider donating goods to the food pantry here at Mountain Lake. Simply bring dry food in and drop it off at the WorldCare table.
8. Refuse to Overspend
Just don’t do it. Don’t get sucked in to the overindulgence. This year, only spend what you have budgeted and what you can actually afford.
9. Prioritize Relationships
This Christmas make it about people and building real relationships, not about what gifts people are giving you.
10. Start a New Family Tradition
Make Christmas a time for family and fun experiences, not simply about the presents.
11. Agree as a Family to Serve Someone in Need
From providing meals, to helping an elderly couple with yardwork, or even providing a needy family with presents for their kids, this Christmas decided as a family to serve others. It may be the best present you’ve ever received.
12. Read a Portion of the Christmas Story Before Opening Presents
Take a step back and remember what Christmas is really about before you dive into opening presents.
13. Purchase Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee as a Stocking Stuffer
Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee is a fair trade coffee that is helping farmers in Rwanda live on a sustainable income. Drink Coffee, Do Good. Coffee is available at the Resource Center.
14. Utilize MLC’s Random Act of Kindness (RAK) Cards
Pick up a few RAK cards at church this weekend and surprise someone in the community with a random act of kindness.
15. Spend Time Each Day With God
It can really be that simple. Simply spend time with God each day, and keep your personal relationship with Him strong.
